Alpha and Omega 1:28 PG Animation
Kate and Humphrey are Canadian Alpha female and Omega male wolves who
go on a cross-country adventure trying to get back home after being
taken away from their wolf packs by humans who are attempting to
repopulate a park in Idaho. Encounters with bears and a pair of ducks
round out their adventure which includes unrealisticly long rides
downhill on pieces of logs that the characters use as sleds (where
there is no snow in the fall or springtime no less as well as in winter
where there is snow). Three stars.
This movie is iffy because there are 20 violent scenes including:
Omegas crash their cruising log, there is a Caribou stampede, there is
a dog fight, a wolf is injured and bleeding after a fight with another
wolf pack, "go for the throat with your teeth" says one wolf to
another, a wolf prat falls off a cliff and into a tree, a hunter
tranquilizes two wolves, another wolf pratfalls off a clif, a bird
drags a wolf through the trees, mom wolf goes into a rage, there are
men shooting at wolves, there is a bear attack, followed by a standoff
with three bears, there is a bumpy ride down a slope on a piece of log
while being chased by a bear, two birds crash, two wolf packs are set
to attack each other, mom wolf attacks Humphrey, two wolf packs are
fighting each other, there is another Caribou stampede and a wolf is
knocked out by a stray Caribou hoof.
The previews include non-violent previews for The Nutcracker 3D and
Narnia 3D as well as somewhat violent previews for Yogi Bear and Gnomeo
and Juliet.
