Review for Apollo 18 PG-13 1:26
by  John Thielking

Apollo 18 is a dark themed space adventure that chronicles the fictional adventures of astronauts on the last manned mission by the US to the moon. The last officially acknowledged mission to the moon was Apollo 17 in 1972.  This movie claims to show footage from a top secret mission that took place in 1974 that went to the moon to install communications equipment during the cold war. This is not likely to be non-fiction since it is not explained how the cameras with their film were transported back to Earth so we can see the movie. The implication of the movie is that there is extraterrestrial life on the moon, infecting moon rocks, which tend to explode and infect human bodies. Two stars.

The movie ranks as "non-violent" because while there are a total of 4 deaths in the movie, only one is shown dieing on screen and there are a total of 10 violent scenes in the movie.  These include: The astronauts find a lot of blood, they find a dead body, a rock sample blows up, two men start fighting, the rover overturns and the camera is smashed, a mysterious force attacks an astronaut, the force continues to attack for a little while, an astronaut tries to break into the landing module and dies when a creature comes out of his helmet, moon rocks attack an astronaut and two spacecraft collide.

The previews were fairly violent.  There were non-violent previews for Contagion, Paranormal and I Don't Know How She Does It.  There were violent previews for In Time, Abduction and The Thing.
