Review for Bad Teacher R 1:29
by  John Thielking
9-4-2011

Cameron Diaz  plays a really awfull teacher named Elizabeth who is stuck teaching 7th grade after her plans to marry a rich fiancee land in the trash bin.  She successfully lies, steals and cheats her way to the top and stays there even after various attempts are made by supporting characters to "out" her as a cheat. The message of this movie is that crime pays, which is a bad message for kids.  There were a few laughs to be had in this "comedy", but not worth repeating here. Two stars.

This movie ranks as "non-violent" because there were very few scenes of violence in it.  At one point we see people watching a horror movie on TV, but the rest of the violence consists of teachers throwing basketballs at kids as a form of punishment or the teachers throwing basketballs at each other.

The previews were disappointingly violent. There were non-violent previews for The Rum Diary, 50/50 and What's Your Number. There was a somewhat violent preview for Footloose, a violent preview for A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas and an extremely violent preview for Killer Elite.
