Carnage is a nonviolent movie about the aftermath of a violent act
perpetrated by an 11 year old boy against another 11 year old boy.
At the beginning of the movie we see a fight break out in the
distance between two boys and their group of friends. Later we find
out that one of the boys damaged the other boy's teeth and messed up
his face. Almost the entire rest of the movie is like My Dinner With
Andre, but where there are 4 participants instead of 2 and where
everybody appears to have arrived straight from Hell, instead of the
Earthly Purgatory that Andre and his buddy seemed to be from.
If you like watching pointless conversations between people who are
verbally speaking going at each others' throats, you will like this
movie. If not. please stay home. Jodie Foster (of Contact
fame) stars as Penelope Longstreet. Two stars.
This movie ranks as nonviolent because even though it was mostly
about a quiet conversation, the script writers managed to squeeze in
8 violent scenes. These included: Some kids start fighting and
one of them strikes another kid with a stick, there is a story about
abandoning a hamster, there is a story about being in a gang, there
is a story about a fight, there is a story about violence in Africa,
a wife hits her husband, a woman throws another woman's bag and a
woman destroys some tulips.
The previews included: An extra violent version of First Look,
including a description of the making of Ghost Rider: Spirit of
Vengeance, a somewhat violent commercial for Variety children's
charity, nonviolent previews for Albert Nobbs and Salmon Fishing In
The Yemen, a violent preview for Titanic 3D and a somewhat violent
preview for Being Flynn.
