The Ides Of March is a piece of politcal theater about Gov Mike
Morris (George Clooney) and his bid for the Democratic nomination
for President of the United States. If only a few of the campaign
promisses of Clooney's character were real life programs being
enacted by the real life Congress, we might actually be getting
somewhere. A couple of plot twists keep the story interesting:
Morris' campaign manager makes the mistake of meeting with the
campaign manager of a rival candidate and the same campaign manager
has a romantic encounter with a 19 year old intern who later becomes
the target of a scandal. Three stars.
There is no on screen violence in this movie. One of the
characters dies from what appears to be an accidental drug/alchohol
overdose. The same character is portrayed as having had a
sexual encounter of questionable consent off screen.
The previews included: somewhat violent previews for Anonymous, The
Skin I Live In, J Edgar, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and The Girl With
The Dragon Tattoo.
