Romantic Comedy
Jay works on a film crew in India, where romantic movies are a dime a
dozen, apparently. Jay hates love stories and is very cynical
about love in his own personal life. His situation is at first
made worse by the arrival of his new boss named Simran, who is very
much into love stories both in movies and in her own personal
life. Jay and Simran have an on again, off again relationship but
can't seem to get in sync with each other. It looks like Simran
is going to marry her long time boyfriend Raj, until in a total cliche
move both Simran and Jay head for the airport. This movie is in the
Indian dialect of Hindi with English subtitles and occasional English
lines spoken. Unfortunately the Indian disco tunes are not
translated. Four stars.
There are a total of 5 scenes which can only loosely be characterized
as violent. A man throws a raw egg at a woman, there are sounds
of gunshots when Jay looks at a General, there is a brief standoff
between Jay and a waiter when the waiter spills a drink on Jay, a
girl's cape is set on fire (just the trailing edge though) and Jay
tangles briefly with two security guards who restrain him.
There was only one non-violent preview that happened at intermission
about the movie We Are Family.
