Margin Call is a dramatic look behind the scenes at a fictional Wall
Street financial firm headed by CEO John Tuld (Jeremy Irons).
One fine sunny day in New York 80% of the people at the firm are
laid off for no apparent reason. Instant Karma sets in for the
people who are still employed in the form of some obscure financial
data stored on a flash drive that risk analyst Eric Dale (Stanley
Tucci) hands to junior analyst Peter Sullivan (Zachary Quinto) on
his way out the door. Eric's last words to Peter are "Be
carefull". Before we know it, Peter is calling his boss Sam
Rogers (Kevin Spacey) and a full blown financial crisis ensues, with
the firm at the epicenter. Three stars.
This movie has little if any violence in it. A man smashes his cell
phone on the pavement in anger after being laid off and a man's dog
is dieing. The movie is rated R for language.
The previews included: Two nonviolent commercials, somewhat violent
previews for Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy and The Skin I Live In (which
shows a man being tortured with a water hose) and nonviolent
previews for A Dangerous Method and The Iron Lady.
