Review for The Best Exotic
Marigold Hotel PG-13 Romantic Comedy 2:04
by John Thielking

Some British retirees Evelyn Greenslade (Judi Dench), Muriel
Donnelly (Maggie Smith), Douglas Ainslie (Bill Nighy) decide
to make the best of their retirement by moving to India. The
movie starts out on a bit of a sour note as one woman who has to
have hip surgery is paranoid in a flat out racist sort of way about
any doctors who might treat her who are not "British" and continues
her paranoia when she moves to India, though she eventually has a
breakthrough and gets over this bit of nonsense. The movie centers
around the group's move to an overrated hotel in India called The
Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, run by an incompetent, bumbling young
man who has run the place into the ground. Three stars.
This movie has little to no violence in it as it has only three
violent scenes. These include: there is a story of a man
dieing of a heart attack, a man appears to die and a man dies of
natural causes in his sleep.
The previews include: a somewhat violent preview for Seeking A
Friend For The End Of The World and nonviolent previews for To Rome
With Love, Hope Springs and Ruby Sparks.
