Review for One Day PG-13 1:47
by  John Thielking
9-6-2011

One Day, a romance/drama, chronicles the date of July 15 in the life of one couple and their friends, from the year 1988 to 2011. Emma Morely and Dexter Mayhew begin a friendship at their college graduation.  After one day together, they part ways, but are destined to meet again.  As luck would have it, every July 15 there is something important for the movie to show us.  There isn't much plot, and the couple don't live happily ever after, though they do succeed in having a meaningfull relationship. 2-1/2 stars.

This movie ranks as "non-violent" because it has only 9 scenes that could be characterized as violent. Some robbers steal a man's clothes while he is skinny dipping, a couple is arguing, there is a violent video game shown that has blood and guts, there is a game where couples are hitting each other in the head with newspapers and one time this act draws blood and breaks a glass coffee table, there is a couple arguing and wrestling a bit, a man bangs his head on a door, a woman gets hit by a truck and dies and a man gets into a fight at a bar -- leaving him out cold on the floor with a bruised face.

The previews included: a non-violent ad for Cadillac, non-violent previews for Mozart's Sister, Restless and 50/50, plus a violent preview for The Heir Apparent.
