Aspiring singer Sherrie Christian (Julianne Hough) finds herself
penniless and without a job (and without her bag) in Hollywood as
soon as she gets off the bus. Soon Drew (Diego Boneta) rescues
her and sees to it that she gets a job at the local watering hole
and music venue called the Bourbon Room.
Tom Cruise stars in this movie as rock and roll superstar Stacee
Jaxx who is scheduled to play at the Bourbon Room (The bar owner
Dennis Dupree is played by Alec Baldwin). Jaxx is drawing heat from
a former groupie of his turned born again Christian who wants to see
Jaxx run out of town and the Bourbon Room shut down. The movie is
permeated by musical numbers from various famous named artists
including Journey, Bon Jovi and Def Leppard Four stars.
This movie ranks as nonviolent because there are only seven violent
scenes in it. These include: some cops are arresting someone, a
woman has her bag stolen, a woman spanks a man, a woman slaps a man,
a monkey is throwing things, a man gets punched in the face and
there is some violent sex (the couple are crashing into walls).
There is just a little smoking in this movie (someone is holding a
cigarette but not inhaling).
The previews include a nonviolent commercial and nonviolent previews
for Part Of Me, Won't Back Down, Pitch Perfect, The Great Gatsby,
Step Up Revolution and Magic Mike.
