A ten year old kid named Billy (Bobby Coleman) thinks that he is
dieing of cancer. So for his last wish he tries to get his
entire elementary school to set a world record for the most snowmen
erected in a single day. The movie has some humorus sub-plots such
as some newly snowbound Jamacans trying to adapt to the cold
weather. The school bully who is rumored to have flunked three
grades adds some dramatic moments in his run-ins with Billy and his
friends. Christopher Lloyd of Back To The Future fame makes a cameo
appearance as a cemetary caretaker. Four stars.
The movie is iffy because it has a total of 13 violent scenes in
it. These include: A snowball fight, a snowplow nearly burries
the kids, a dead body is found in the snow, there is some fighting
with the school bully a total of 6 times, there is a story of a kid
dieing of cancer, there is a story of kids drowning, there is a
story of kids falling through the ice and a kid actually falls
through the ice.
The previews include: A violent preview for The Muppets, somewhat
violent previews for Puss In Boots and Happy Feet Two and nonviolent
previews for The Greening Of Whitney Brown, Alvin and The Chipmunks
Chipwrecked and Arthur Christmas.
