Hey all you sloppy compilers of movie review lists, this movie is
NOT the 2003 movie about the spelling bee. It is a Japanese
movie about a young woman who has a hard time dating because she is
haunted by ghosts. The woman meets a magician who needs to
spice up his act and boy does he ever after she gets involved. She
won't go out with him for drinks after the show at first, but when
she finally does she really does some odd things when she gets
drunk The movie is in Japanese with English subtitles. Like
Paranormal Activity 3, this movie is a relatively nonviolent horror
movie with no blood and guts but with a spooky plot and a bit of
suspense. Four stars.
The movie is ranked as iffy because it has a total of 15 mildly
violent scenes in it with one death and a few near misses. A woman
gets snatched by an evil spirit, there is a story of dead people
strangling you, a picture smashes to the floor, there is the
aftermath of a car accident where two people are hurt, two girls
drown and are rescued and one dies, a man gets grabbed by a ghost in
an elevator, a man gets hit in the head with softballs, a woman
slaps a man, some birds swarm at a couple, a forklift sideswipes a
car, a sign falls from a building to the sidewalk in an area
surrounding a man standing there, a woman looks like she is
drowning, a man falls to the stage floor, a bus crashes in slow
motion off a bridge and there is a man on life support in the
hospital.
The previews included only one nonviolent commercial for http://www.fathomevents.com
, a site where you can buy tickets to nonviolent operas shown on
movie theater screens nationwide.
