This movie is a fictionalized account of French President Nicolas
Sarkozy's run for the Presidency and his ups and downs with his wife
during the process. It is little more than pomp and circumstance
surrounding the campaign, but the movie manages to maintain its
momentum and keep the viewer's interest throughout. In French with
English subtitles. Three stars.
The movie is iffy only because of language, otherwise it would be
ranked as nonviolent. There are six instances of violence in
the movie: There is a scene where there are cars on fire by the side
of the road, there are several statements throughout the movie about
the characters thinking they should be dead at the hands of someone
or wanting to "kill" someone --- it is always clear that these are
rhetorical statements, a man makes a motion of shooting a rifle with
his hands, there are pictures on TV of rioting, there is a story of
rioting involving 2 deaths and there is a brief skirmish when one of
the characters is not admitted to a party.
There were no previews when this movie was shown at the Camera 3 in
San Jose, CA.
