The Way is a story about a man named Tom (Martin Sheen) who finds out that his son Daniel died on the first day of an 800 mile pilgrimage through France along the route called The Camino de Santiago, otherwise known as The Way of St. James.  Tom journeys to France to recover his son's remains and while he is there he has the inspiration to complete the 800 mile walk while carrying his son's ashes. Along the way, Tom meets various people making the trek for their own reasons. Four stars.

This movie ranks as "non-violent" because it has only seven violent scenes and no violent climax.  The violent scenes include: a father's son is reported killed, there is the story of the mythical death of Rolan, two people fight over a box of ashes, there is a story about an aborted baby, a drunken man is taken away by the police, a man is pushed down to the ground by the police and a boy steals a man's backpack.

The previews are a rare non-violent treat.  The previews include a somewhat violent preview for Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy and non-violent previews for The Mighty Macs, Joyfull Noise, A Dangerous Mind and The Artist.
